Description

The untold story of Jewish women brought to Argentina under false pretences and then trafficked in the sex trade throughout the 19th and 20th centuries. They were scorned by the local Jewish community, sometimes in such public places as the local Yiddish theatre, and abandoned in the “Impure Cemetery” in Buenos Aires, where these women were buried and forgotten. Through interviews with historians who have unearthed this hidden chapter of history, this documentary explores the efforts made by Jewish women of the era to curb the trafficking, as well as evidence of the shame, guilt and anger that surrounded the controversial practice.
