Description

Set in Rio de Janeiro in 1917, this period drama follows a woman’s fight to give her son a better future. Arriving from Poland to be reunited with her husband and start a new life, Rebeca discovers that her husband has died. To make ends meet, she is forced to work at a brothel, where the exploited women regularly face abuse. This moving Jewish immigrant story about resilience, motherhood and courage shines a light on a forgotten chapter of history, and features standout performances from Brazilian actors Valentina Herszage and Caco Ciocler.
