SUPPORT

WHY SUPPORT TJFF?

The Toronto Jewish Film Foundation is an independent charitable organization dedicated to using the power of film to connect, engage and inspire audiences with unique and varied stories of Jewish life, history and culture in Canada and around the world.  Our annual spring Festival is Canada’s largest Jewish cultural event.

The Foundation relies on support from public funders, foundations, corporate sponsorships and individuals to deliver quality Jewish-content programming. Your donation helps to:

  • Cover rental costs of films and theatre venues
  • Maintain affordable ticket pricing and provide free programs
  • Bring filmmakers, producers and scholars to participate on panels and post-screening Q&As
  • Engage the next generation with free student admission during the Festival
  • Provide free, nationwide online archive J-Flix to over 170 past Festival titles that explore and celebrate the diversity of Jewish culture

WAYS TO GIVE

GIFTS OF CASH

All gifts of $18 or greater made by cash, cheque or credit card are accompanied by a charitable tax receipt.

TAX PLANNING AND TJFF

GIFTING SECURITIES

There are many ways to donate to TJFF as a part of your larger financial and tax planning strategy.  With your donation of qualifying securities such as publicly traded shares and mutual fund trust units, you avoid the capital gains tax on these appreciated securities, and you also receive a donation receipt for the fair market value of your donated shares.  This tax credit can be used to reduce your income taxes in the year of your gift, or it can be carried forward for up to five additional years.

RRSP, RRIF, TFSA

You can also designate TJFF as a beneficiary of your RRSP, RRIF or TFSA. Your estate will receive a charitable tax receipt to reduce taxes payable upon death.

GIFT OF A LIFE INSURANCE POLICY

Designate TJFF as the beneficiary of a life insurance policy. Your estate will receive a charitable tax receipt at the time the benefit is paid out.

GIFT IN A WILL: LEGACY GIVING

A gift in your Will may specify a donation amount, a residual percentage of your estate or specific assets.  This gift qualifies for a charitable tax receipt to reduce taxes payable by your estate in the year of your death.

“Our decision to participate in the Toronto Jewish Film Foundation Legacy Giving initiative results from our desire to provide, in some small measure, a funding stream or pool of funds to support future moviegoers and movie-makers.

With a goal to keeping Jewish filmmaking a thriving source of education and entertainment, we believe the key lies in preparing for the future –today!

We have been privileged over the many years of our involvement with TJFF in being the recipients of all that has been offered and made available through the efforts and imagination of the Toronto Jewish Film Foundation.

Legacy Giving provides some hope that those who follow will be afforded the same privileges.”

– Barbara E. & Lorne Bernstein, Legacy Gift Donors

We are always happy to work with you and your advisors to maximize the impact of your gift as a part of your long-term financial plans.
