TJFF2020 & Shavuot

A Word About our 2020 Festival Dates….

Our 2020 Festival takes place over May 27 – June 7. This change to later dates than in past years was made out of necessity. We want to assure you that we are very mindful that these dates span over Shavuot (May 29 – 30) and it is our intent to honour and respect these holy days on the Jewish calendar. Therefore Festival screenings will be on hiatus during Shavuot until Yizkor has been observed on May 30, and the following considerations will also be in place:

  • Our opening night will be moved from the ‘usual’ Thursday back to Wednesday so that it will not take place on the first night (erev) of Shavuot

  • We will not be offering any paid screenings/events during Shavuot, but will instead be partnering with other Jewish organizations to offer a free meaningful and educational programme, within the themes of the holiday, that TJFF participants can opt to make part of their Shavuot practice

  • We will resume our regular paid programming after Shavuot and Shabbat are over, as per usual

We thank you for your continued support and we look forward to celebrating the Festival and Shavuot with you!
