Produced by Universal Pictures in 1926, The Cohens and Kellys is a lively ethnic comedy about feuding Irish and Jewish families living next to each other on New York’s Lower East Side. The film has been jointly-restored by the Cinématèque Royale de Belgique and the IFI Irish Film Archive. (see p.37)
A live score, drawing on Irish and Jewish folk music traditions, will be performed by multi-award-winning, Dublin-based musicians–accordionist Dermot Dunne and saxophonist Nick Roth.
