Description

This exquisitely shot film tells the story of Leonor, Brites and Mécia, orphans who were raised as Catholics by the Queen of Portugal. Amidst the 16th century Inquisition, they are sent to the Brazilian colony with orders to marry and populate the New World. While the three sisters navigate the challenges of their new lives, each chooses a different path. As the Inquisition reaches Brazil, spreading fear and distrust among the villagers, secrets are unveiled, fingers are pointed and the sisters are shocked by accusations of their Jewish ancestry, forcing them to make crucial choices that endanger their lives and jeopardize their relationships.
