Description

Writer-director Nicolas Pariser channels the spirits of Hitchcock and Chabrol in this stylish romantic thriller. When an actor is poisoned and dies midway through a performance at the Comédie Française in Paris, his fellow troupe member and friend, Martin (Vincent Lacoste), becomes the chief suspect in his murder. To add to his woes, Martin also becomes the target of a mysterious international organization called The Green Perfume. While eluding his pursuers, he is helped by Claire (Sandrine Kiberlain), a graphic artist with whom he has little in common apart from their Jewish connection. Together, they travel across Europe to thwart the organization’s deadly plan.

"I loved The Green Perfume, which evokes one of my favourite genre mash-ups: the screwball- comedy-conspiracy-adventure film, involving eccentric couples, dangerous intrigue, sinister adversaries, and exotic locations. In the hands of award-winning filmmaker Nicolas Pariser, this stylish rendition offers a uniquely Jewish twist, in its deeper (and timely) engagement with questions of identity in the context of rising nationalism."
