Anchored by riveting performances from Reymonde Amsalem (Seven Blessings) and Samar Qupty (Fauda), The Future is a taut psychological drama which blends politics and science fiction, while also examining female identity and motherhood. Nurit Bloch is a profiler who heads The Future Project, an algorithm-based program designed to identify individuals likely to become terrorists. When Yaffa, a young Arab student confesses to murdering the Minister for Space and Tourism in the lead up to Israel’s inaugural moon mission, Nurit asks to interview her in order to fix the bugs in her algorithm. Convinced that Yaffa is withholding her motivation for the assassination, the two women engage in a series of interviews that become increasingly personal.
