Description

A celebration of the beloved cult comedy series about a dysfunctional Jewish family in Winnipeg. At 15 years old, Sheldon Blecher (Jesse Camacho) has finally had his bar mitzvah, but his life doesn’t seem to be getting much better. Within his loving family, there is his self-destructive father (Maury Chaykin), pyromaniac mother (Wendel Meldrum) and failed-actor brother (Benjamin Arthur). Their primary source of income: a family-run driving school which always seems on the verge of financial collapse. Writer Marvin Kaye mined his own childhood experiences in his play They Have Mayonnaise in Montreal. Kaye and Chris Sheasgreen then adapted it into one of the smartest, funniest and most unique comedy shows made in Canada. (Yes, Marvin Kaye’s family did run a driving school.)
TJFF presents three episodes followed by a discussion with creator Marvin Kaye, producer Mark McKinney and stars Jesse Camacho and Brooke Palsson.
