Description
This poignant, award-winning feature marks the last score written by revered composer Alex North (Spartacus, A Streetcar Named Desire), and was produced by his son, Steven North. Tom Courtenay stars as Antoine Moreau, a famous French mime artist who is blackmailed by the Nazis into presenting a children’s performance at Terezin, in order to deceive the visiting Red Cross delegation. Moreau gradually decides to subvert the propaganda campaign by staging an extraordinary version of “Hansel and Gretel”. Based on the book of the same name by Canadian author Michael Jacot, with additional music by Czech composer Milan Svoboda.
