Filmmaker Gidi Dar (Ushpizin) offers a splendid comedic, modern-day tale inspired by Sholem Aleichem and Isaac Bashevis Singer, and set in Jerusalem’s Hasidic enclave. Moishe (Shuli Rand), once the city’s most sought-after badhan—a Hasidic comedian and wedding emcee—cannot afford his only daughter Surah Leah’s wedding, just as she finally finds a suitor. When his childhood friend Yisroel returns from America for his own son’s lavish wedding, accompanied by a young, flashy American badhan, hope arrives when Moishe convinces  Yisroel to hire him as well. However, things quickly spiral out of control when Moshe engages in a battle to reclaim his former glory.
