From The Kramer Brothers (The First Step, City of Trees) and Darren Aronofsky, Holding Liat is a nuanced exploration of one family’s efforts to secure the release of their daughter and son-in-law kidnapped on October 7th. While the film is seen through the prism of this single family’s personal trauma, it also illuminates the crisis in a broader political context as Liat’s staunch leftist father, her pragmatic sister and traumatized son differ in their political outlooks and argue about their approach to dealing with their American hosts as they embark on a trip to the U.S. to lobby for the hostages--this means acknowledging the validity of everyone’s perspective, no matter how uncomfortable.
Featuring an extended Q&A with producer Lance Kramer moderated by Ron Levi.
