When Jews faced systemic barriers in American hotels, country clubs, and universities, they built their own spaces – none more iconic than the Catskills resort Grossinger’s. Run by three generations of Jewish women, led by Jennie Grossinger, one of America’s first female hoteliers, Grossinger’s was more than a resort; it was a place where immigrants, sports figures, politicians, and movie stars (including Jackie Robinson, Eddie Fisher, and Eleanor Roosevelt) rubbed shoulders. Through archival footage, and interviews with Grossinger family members, former employees, guests, and entertainers, this documentary chronicles Grossinger’s dazzling rise and bittersweet fall, as the place that helped shape Jewish-American identity, leaving a lasting impact on American culture.

Reviews

“At once nostalgic and revelatory, We Met at Grossinger’s captures both the golden age and the fading echoes of the Catskills’ most beloved resort.” Jewish Humor Central

“With its snappy editing and in-depth approach to the history of the culture, the film brings the past back to life and captures how the resort became ingrained in people’s personal lives.” Forward
