Description

"A must see for any pop culture television lover!” (Fresh Radio). Twenty-one-year-old local filmmaker Ben Kaplan decides to follow his TV-obsessed dad, who sketches his favourite sitcom actors, collects television memorabilia and attends The Brady Bunch conventions. Together they explore how television consumption has changed from one generation to the next, and whether today’s viewing habits have fragmented what was a more communal experience. These answers require reflection on their relationship, as well as help from such television craftsmen as Norman Lear, Peter Bonerz (The Bob Newhart Show), Tom Cherones (director of Seinfeld) and many others. The ability of Viewer Direction Advised to serve as both social history and off-beat father-son journey makes this viewing experience funny, touching and rewarding.
