Description
Two rarely-screened television pilots featuring Saul Rubinek alongside the up and coming stars of SCTV. Created by Perry Rosemond (King of Kensington), The Rimshots (1978) focuses on the struggles of a young comedy troupe, and also stars Dave Thomas, Catherine O’Hara and Andrea Martin. Written by Thomas and Eugene Levy, the Global TV pilot 1774 (1978) is a dark satire of American history—starring Rubinek, Levy, O’Hara, Thomas and Martin Short—that breaks many of the era’s conventions of television comedy. 1774 also features Joe Flaherty and Maury Chaykin. In both pieces, Rubinek demonstrates wonderful chemistry with the cast from Toronto’s Second City.
