“I think people in medicine should be advocates for the public” (Dr. May Cohen). When May Cohen was a medical student, the 70 kg male body was the model from which all diagnoses and treatments were made; the concept of women’s health did not exist. For sixty years, Cohen has advocated powerfully in Canada and internationally for women's reproductive rights, women's health and women physicians’ advancement. This loving documentary recounts her life, with memories of growing up with left-wing Yiddish-speaking parents on Major Street in Toronto, the summers spent at Camp Naivelt and her later years as a physician, mother, activist and role model for future women in the medical field.
