Description

Official Selection, Berlin International Film Festival.

Nimrod Eldar’s astonishing and critically-acclaimed debut drama explores the psychology of loss and trauma through an emotionally fraught father-daughter relationship. Immersing himself in his veterinary work after his wife’s death, Yoram (Menashe Noy) is oblivious to his teenage daughter’s suffering until her attempted suicide shatters his world. Unable to deal with her emotional needs on his own, the two travel to visit his wife’s family where ghosts from the past resurface, clarifying both the source of his daughter’s depression and Yoram’s own feeling of hopelessness. The result is a moving film about injured animals, injured people and an injured country.
