Description

Winner, Variety Piazza Grande Award, Locarno International Film Festival

Legendary French actress Françoise Fabian (My Night at Maud’s, Call My Agent) stars as a recently widowed woman whose zest for life is re-ignited after a chance dinner party. Rose’s children are baffled by her newfound vivacity, finding it unbecoming for an elderly widow. Debut director, writer and composer Aurélie Saada draws on her own North African Jewish roots, composing the music for the film and even including the recipe for her “makroudh,” a date-filled cookie. The result is an accomplished, life affirming celebration of Jewishness, both Sephardi and Ashkenazi that is guaranteed to delight.
