Description

In a touching testament to the grandfather he never met, director Gadi Rimer delivers a portrait of a unique Israeli pioneer. In 1968, Joe Rimer, an electrician and amateur diver, single-mindedly found a way to direct the first underwater Israeli film. What he lacked in technology, he more than made up for with Israeli chutzpah and innovation. Together with some of his peers, they found creative solutions to technical difficulties. A loving portrait of an idiosyncratic generation that helped shape Israel’s creativity and technological acumen. Screening of this documentary will be followed by Joe Rimer’s original 1968 film.
