First time director Élise Otzenberger deftly mixes elements of romantic comedy and drama to look at the joys and pains that come with learning about one’s family history. Judith Chemla (Camille redouble) and Arthur Igual (Stefan Zweig: Farewell to Europe) star as Anna and Adam, a recently-married Parisian Jewish couple of Polish heritage. For their honeymoon, they decide to visit Poland for the first time, to attend a ceremony in the village where Adam’s grandfather grew up. He is less than enthusiastic about the trip, while she is excited to connect with her roots. Will their differing attitudes pull them apart, or draw them closer together?
