Description

Official Selection, Cannes ACID 2024.

“A marvel, chaotic, sweet and sour, emotional and purely detailed.” (Spanglish Cinema)

This endearing first feature tackles family dysfunction and grief with a healthy dose of black comedy. David, a gay, Jewish millennial returns to Buenos Aires from studying abroad to attend his uncle’s funeral only to discover that his mother plans to disconnect the ventilator that has been keeping her husband alive for years. Unable to confront the inevitability of his father’s death, David fills his time by hooking up with random men, practising for his driver’s test and scheduling specialist appointments. Director and lead actor Iair Said creates a complex character who morphs from a neurotic failure to a mature adult.

"This intimate family story, which premiered in Cannes’ ACID program, is brought to life by Said’s raw and honest lead performance alongside the wonderful Rita Cortese, who plays David’s mother with tender naturalism." –CELESTE WONG for Jewish Film Institute
