Description

Although not made for children, this charming documentary recounts the fascinating story of Hans and Margret Rey, co-creators of Curious George. Born in Hamburg to successful Jewish families, they fled Germany with the rise of Nazism. Marrying in Brazil, they then moved to Paris where George was conceived. After fleeing Paris on bicycle, they made their way to America where their stories about a curious monkey delighted children and adults alike. The film seamlessly incorporates animation that captures George’s whimsy to tell a story about two opposites—Hans the dreamer and Margret the entrepreneur— who together created a character that continues to touch hearts and minds around the world.
