Description

Acclaimed director Eran Kolirin’s (The Band’s Visit) latest venture premiered at Cannes and went on to win seven Israeli Academy Awards (Ophirs), including Best Picture. Based on the Sayed Kashua novel, the film highlights the absurdities of everyday life for Israeli Arabs. Returning to the family village for his brother’s wedding, Sami, a middle class Palestinian telecom executive, is trapped from the outside world when the village is placed under military siege. With the power out, Sami re-evaluates his own comfortable life in Jerusalem and whether his sense of security as an Israeli citizen is an illusion.
