Description

While Jewish cowboys have been a figure in comedy films, Jews of the Wild West traces the real history of Jewish cowboys and cowgirls that is a largely forgotten chapter of the American West. In additional to familiar names like Levi Strauss or the Guggenheim family, the film adds many more, including Josephine Marcus Earp, an actress and respected Jewish wife of Wyatt Earp, and Solomon Bibo, who was elected governor of Acoma Pueblo in New Mexico, the only non-Indigenous tribal leader. Directed by award-wining filmmaker Amanda Kinsey, this is an eye-opening look at the role Jews played in the building of the American West.
