Description
From a working class Jewish family on Clark St. in Montreal, and the National Theatre School’s second graduating class, Marilyn Lightstone emerged as one of Canada’s foremost actors. Her diverse and empowering body of work as well as her screen persona are worth celebrating. Beyond her award-winning roles as the Jewish mother in Lies My Father Told Me as well as the French Canadian Mother in The Tin Flute, her strength and warmth has infused a broad range of memorable performances on stage and screen. TJFF honours her lengthy career as a performer, writer (songwriter, novelist) and producer with a five-part career retrospective consisting of special archival screenings and a live in-person Q&A, all free to the public.
