Description

In this captivating documentary, Czech Jewish survivors recount the seemingly impossible: pleasant memories of Auschwitz. German Jew and unsung hero, Alfred (Freddy) Hirsch dedicated himself to lessening the impact of Nazi terror on childrens' lives. In Terezin, he looked after children and obtained space for a playground. In Auschwitz, he managed to get one building dedicated as a ‘children’s block.’ While he didn’t survive, Freddy Hirsch lives on in the memories of those who, thanks to him, experienced some joy in the midst of hell.
