Description

A fascinating cultural artifact, this rarely-screened CBC television production of Duddy Kravitz was produced a year after the novel was first published. With a teleplay written by Mordecai Richler himself, this hour-long drama focuses on Duddy’s days working as a waiter at a resort in the Laurentians, and his being conned by a privileged Jewish med student and his girlfriend. This TV production boasts a terrific cast that includes Alfie Scopp and Ben and Sylvia Lennick, as well as an array of up-and-coming Canadian talent such as future filmmaker Martin Lavut as Duddy, Perry Rosemond (later to be a successful television director and producer), Al Waxman and Louis Negin.
