Description

A “time travel masterpiece.” (Austin Chronicle) Betty Gilpin (Glow, Nurse Jackie) stars in this hilarious valentine to the classic screwball comedies of yesteryear. Director Jamie Greenberg has constructed the film as a long-lost Hollywood movie from 1938, presented in an early version of Technicolor. An American agent travels 80 years into the future to recover a powerful weaponized isotope to defeat the Nazis. After landing in 2018—envisioned as an old Hollywood B-movie’s conception of the future—he falls for hotel clerk Banky (Gilpin), who assists him on his mission. Future ‘38 affectionately recreates the visuals and rhythms of these old films, with plenty of gags, silly and sophisticated.
