Description
In this beautiful, nostalgic documentary, filmmaker Ruggero Gabbai (Libya: The Last Exodus, TJFF 2018), explores the trauma of exile and displacement shared by members of the 2000-year-old Tunisian Jewish community. Alternating between Tunisia and France, the film presents the reminiscences of older and younger generations about their powerful connection to this once vibrant centre of Maghrebi and Mediterranean Jewish life; these subjects engage with their conflicted feelings about belonging, and the possibility of ever returning ‘home’ to reclaim their lost African roots and identity.
