Description

A not-to-be-missed documentary that highlights the many ways that Jews fought back. It honours the bravery, cleverness and leadership of the Partisans. “Surprising, moving, horrifying …and sometimes shockingly funny.” (Marjorie Ingall, Tablet) Four Winters celebrates the 25,000 Jewish partisans who escaped into the forests of Eastern Europe to resist the Nazis, carrying out deadly acts of sabotage, staging ambushes and waging clandestine warfare. Though many were mere teenagers, they were able to organize into a formidable force against better-trained and better-equipped enemies. Featuring interviews with five of the last surviving partisans, two of whom (Faye Schulman and Sara Ginaite) raised families in Toronto.
