Description

The untold story of Thessaloniki’s Sephardic community during WWII is revealed in this sweeping romantic tale of forbidden love between a Jewish woman and a Christian man. Sparks fly when Estrea meets Giorgos, a member of the Resistance who owns a tavern with his brother-in-law. When the city’s Jews face deportation, the pair risk everything to stay together. The film’s powerful story and stunning cinematography is paired with an outstanding soundtrack inspired by the songs of Vassilis Tsitsanis, including his famous composition, “Cloudy Sunday,” which gives the film its title.
