Description

Based on one of Stefan Zweig’s last works reflecting his worsening despair with the situation in Europe, Chess Story is a gripping and multi-layered drama set during WWII. Arrested by the Gestapo and thrown into solitary confinement, Josef Bartok is psychologically tormented for months. Only after he steals an old book about chess and immerses himself in the game is he able to regain some psychological relief. Star Oliver Masucci (When Hitler Stole Pink Rabbit; Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore) brilliantly embodies Bartok’s private battle.
