Description

In this personal documentary, filmmaker Elizabeth Rynecki searches for paintings by her great grandfather, Moshe Rynecki, that depict scenes of Jewish life in pre-war Poland. Before the Nazi occupation and his death in Majdanek, Rynecki hid his art amongst friends in Warsaw, but only one bundle was later found. The rest were dispersed to public and private collections around the world. Elizabeth is on a quest to track down the lost pieces and rebuild her great grandfather’s collection. "This moving portrait of one woman's effort to connect with her family history and particularly with a man she never knew had me tearing up. The connections she made with her great grandfather across time and space was magical." (Steve Kopian, Unseen Films)
