George Segal stars in this funny and poignant comedy that follows four New York Jewish intellectuals and childhood friends as they navigate the streets of Brooklyn in a red Volkswagen on a journey to find the location of a friend’s funeral. The film also serves as both a vibrant time capsule of Jewish New York as well as hilarious showcase for some of the era’s greatest character actors–including Jack Warden, Jessica Walter and Sorrell Booke (“Boss” Hogg on The Dukes of Hazzard)— as well as comedians Godfrey Cambridge (Watermelon Man) and Alan King. Director Sidney Lumet called it “the most personal picture I’ve ever made.”
