Bella is a comic road trip careening between Israel and the West Bank. Realizing too late that the dove he gave to his friend Bilal may be worth a small fortune, struggling musician Yaki recruits his friend to retrieve it. Full of mishaps and surprises, their journey takes them through checkpoints, and ends with a struggle to revive an unconscious dove. Co-directed by an Israeli and a Palestinian filmmaker, Bella approaches the conflict with gentle satire that echoes the humanist touch of Eran Riklis’ films, offering a refreshing and hopeful entry in contemporary Israeli cinema. Co-produced by the internationally-acclaimed Dardenne Brothers.
