Description

Set in Montreal during World War II, this heartfelt adaptation of Mordecai Richler’s story tells of a family who takes in a Jewish refugee named Mr. Bambinger (Peter Boretski). However, twelve-year-old Sammy resents this intrusion, but this resentment turns into compassion when he learns the fate of Bambinger’s family. “It's an excellently crafted drama, and the cast is terrific. The richness and texture, the over-all quality of Bambinger give it the impact of a much larger production.” (Globe & Mail) An Atlantis Films / National Film Board of Canada co-production.
