Description

Danae Elon (2016 David A. Stein Memorial Award winner for The Patriarch’s Room) returns to TJFF with another remarkable film: an intimate, complex study of sisters Marina and Tatiana. These Russian-born Israeli women have barely spoken in twenty years, ever since Tatiana decided to leave Jerusalem and live as a nun in Greece. Feeling the need to reconnect, Marina travels to the convent to try to understand the choices her sister has made, and to urge her to reunite with their mother in Israel. A dramatic turn of events sets them both down a path of personal discovery, as the film explores issues of faith, respect and acceptance.
