Description

Long kept secret, the Transfer Agreement of 1933 was a deal signed between Zionist organizations and the Nazi Party which allowed thousands of Jews to emigrate to Palestine while retaining part of the value of the assets they left behind. The deal funnelled vast sums of money into the Yishuv’s development, but it came at a price. Blending carefully curated archival footage with animation, the film is anchored in the perspectives of Sam Cohen, a Jewish businessman who orchestrated the agreement, and his wife, Anita, who opposed it. Their clashing views mirror a deeper debate—principle versus pragmatism—one that continues to reverberate within Israeli society today.
