Jodie Foster plays psychiatrist Lilian Steiner, who mounts a private investigation into the death of one of her patients. Sensing there is more than meets the eye, she sets out to uncover the truth—with the reluctant help of both a hypnotist whose methods she detests, and her charismatic ex-husband, an ophthalmologist (Daniel Auteuil), who hopes to rekindle their relationship.

| Reviews | “Director Rebecca Zlotowski (Other People’s Children) masterfully balances the sinister and the playful, and surrounds Foster with a veritable who’s who of French movie stars…Unpredictable and loose-limbed, A Private Life, like its incandescent star in her most dexterous role in years, is a complete delight.”
