Description

Celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Jerusalem Sam Spiegel Film School - Fifty years after winning the Silver Lion for best short film at the Venice Film Festival, Avraham Heffner’s groundbreaking film, Slow Down, based on a Simone de Beauvoir story, is being celebrated with six modern interpretations. Six renowned Israeli directors, all graduates of the Sam Spiegel Film School in Jerusalem— including Nir Bergman (Broken Wings), Eitan Anner (A Quiet Heart) and Maya Kenig (Off-White Lies)—have put their own unique stamp on the original story which charts the quarrel and reconciliation of a couple through the heroine’s stream-of-consciousness voice over. Acclaimed actors Gila Almagor, Dana Ivgy and Makram Khouri lend their talents to this tribute, while bringing a modern spin that reflects contemporary Israeli society.
Followed by a panel discussion on Women in Israeli Cinema, featuring Distributor Ruth Diskin, Director of Projects and Culture, Jerusalem Foundation; Filmmakers Shulamit Lifshitz and Naama Shohet; Renen Schorr, Curator and Founding Director, Jerusalem Sam Spiegel Film School
