Description

Two seemingly opposite men – one who wants to discover his family’s past and the other who wants to forget his – set out on a road trip through Slovakia in this expertly crafted dramedy. 80-year-old translator, Ali (Jiri Menzel), wants to confront the SS man who executed his parents, but only finds the officer’s 70-year-old alcoholic son Georg (Peter Simonischek, Toni Erdmann). Comedic twists and tragic realizations confront the ill-matched couple as they travel through Slovakia in search of the history that its inhabitants would prefer to forget.
