Description

Russia’s official submission to the 2019 Academy Awards, Sobibor is a powerful film about the 1943 uprising and escape from the prison camp. Central to the story is Soviet-Jewish Officer Alexander Pechersky, who achieved the seemingly impossible by organizing a daring and carefully-orchestrated revolt that led to a mass escape–the most successful uprising at any camp. Director Konstantin Khabenskiy also explores the internal politics between the conspirators and the Jews who worked as camp police for the Nazis. Starring Christopher Lambert and Konstantin Khabenskiy, one of Russia’s best-known actors.
