Description

Oscar-winning filmmaker Sebastián Lelio (A Fantastic Woman) directs Rachel Weisz and Rachel McAdams in this powerful adaptation of Naomi Alderman’s novel about a woman who returns home to her Orthodox North London community and rekindles a romance with her cousin’s wife. Following the death of her highly respected rabbi father, Ronit (Weisz) returns to the community she fled years earlier. There she is welcomed back by her childhood friends, Dovid (Alessandro Nivola) and his wife Esti (McAdams). When latent passions between the two women resurface, their futures are thrown into question. Disobedience is an absorbing exploration of the boundaries of faith, sexuality and personal freedom.
