The Philippines 2014 foreign-language Oscar® submission, Transit is a drama about Israeli foreign workers told through the eyes of five Filipino families whose children risk deportation. Director Hannah Espia focuses on the human drama between parents, and their children who are caught between two cultures: the children have never experienced the Filipino world that their parents represent, and Israeli society is the only place they have ever known. “Assisted by clever editing that replays previous scenes in slightly extended form, shedding greater light on characters and conflicts, the [film] is constantly engaging and frequently moving” (Variety).
